Expert Advice from Mills Removals
Packing is one of the most important parts of moving — done well, it keeps your belongings safe and makes moving day far less stressful. Our expert team has put together these practical tips to help you prepare with confidence.
General Packing Tips
Fill boxes properly:
Pack to the top and use towels, bedding, or paper to fill gaps. Underfilled boxes can collapse; overfilled boxes may split.
Keep boxes manageable:
Aim to keep each box under 15kg/30lbs. Place heavier items at the bottom and lighter ones on top.
Mix heavy and light:
Alternate fragile items (china, glass) with soft fillers (cushions, bedding) for extra protection.
Label clearly:
Mark each box with its room and contents. Use “Fragile” and “This Way Up” where needed. Write on the sides as well as the top.
Pack smart:
Start with items you use least. Work room by room. Keep essentials for last-minute packing.
